ROME, GA – Mrs. Teresa Faye Collins Lowe, was known for her love of games, where she earned titles such as the ultimate master of the original Nintendo, the champion of Zelda, the empress of Jeopardy!, and the queen of Yahtzee. These titles were more than just fun for Teresa, she died on Friday January 10 2025, at a hospital in Rome, Georgia. She was 65.
Teresa’s family spoke about her competitive spirit, her sharp wit, and her ability to make any gathering joyful. Her family fondly recalls the many hours spent playing, laughing, and connecting over games that Teresa ruled with mastery and grace. She was more than just a winner—she brought people together.
Born to Thurman and Betty Overbay Collins, Teresa was raised in a home filled with love, support, and a strong sense of family. Those values carried her through life, and she in turn passed them on to her own family. Teresa’s parents, who preceded her in death, left a lasting legacy that shaped her into the loving wife, mother, and grandmother she became. Her grandsons, Zack Edwards and Marcus Pickel, also passed before her, and now, they are all reunited in peace.
Teresa’s family was the center of her world, and she filled their lives with love and laughter. She is survived by her devoted husband, John Lowe, who stood by her side through thick and thin. Her children, John (Gerica) Lowe, Melissa Collins, Julia (Kenneth) Hines, Shannon Pickel, and Amy Wigley, were her pride and joy. Teresa took immense pleasure in watching her children grow into the remarkable individuals they are today. She was their guide, their biggest supporter, and the steady hand they relied on. Her love for them knew no bounds, and they, in turn, cherish the lessons and love she gave so freely.
Teresa’s siblings, Jeri Carter, Beverly Davidson, Robin Campbell, and Rev. Steve (Debra) Collins, shared an unbreakable bond with her, each one playing a unique role in her life. Her grandchildren—Shyanna Edwards, Sierra Edwards, Skyler Hines, Alina Norton, Brianna Hines, Abigail Pickel, William McDaniel, Heather Wigley, and Nicholas Wigley—were the light of Teresa’s life. She was a doting grandmother, always making time for them, offering her wisdom, and creating unforgettable memories. Her great-grandchildren, Scarlett Brown Edwards, Jaxton Hines, and Asher Gillis, were yet another generation blessed by her nurturing presence.
The loss of Teresa Lowe is felt by her extended family as well, including several nieces, nephews, cousins, and a wealth of friends who were touched by her kindness and generosity.
In accordance with Teresa’s wishes, there will be no formal services at this time. Her family honors her desire for simplicity, knowing that her legacy lives on in the memories and hearts of those who loved her.
