BALDWINSVILLE, NEW YORK – Reginald “Reggie” Rawls Jr., a beloved son, brother, friend, and dedicated member of the local running community. Reggie died on Tuesday 18, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, humor, and an unwavering love for life. Born in Syracuse and a 2003 graduate of C.W. Baker High School, Reggie touched countless lives through his work, his passions, and his infectious spirit. He was 40.
Reggie was a self-employed contractor who took immense pride in his craft. Known for his meticulous attention to detail and strong work ethic, he built a reputation as someone who could be trusted to deliver quality and care in every project. But beyond his professional life, Reggie was a man of many passions. An avid runner, he competed in hundreds of 5K, 10K, and half marathons across upstate New York. His presence was a staple in the tight-knit running community, where he was admired not only for his endurance but also for his camaraderie and encouragement of others.
Cars were another of Reggie’s great loves, particularly his cherished Ford Lightning. He found joy in the roar of an engine and the thrill of the open road. Yet, perhaps nothing brought him more happiness than his two beloved pups, Luna and Rip. They were his constant companions, and his love for them was evident to anyone who knew him.
Family was at the center of Reggie’s world. He cherished spending time with his loved ones, whether it was sharing a meal, firing up his smoker to perfect his famous brisket, or engaging in lively political banter. Reggie had an incredible sense of humor and a quick wit that could light up any room. His laughter was contagious, and his ability to find joy in the simplest moments was a gift to all who knew him.
Reggie is predeceased by his paternal grandparents, Marie and Reginald Rawls, and his maternal grandfather, Edward Graveline. He is survived by his father, Reginald Sr. of Baldwinsville; his mother, Pamela Goult (Edward Slowik) of Syracuse; his stepfather, James Goult; his brothers, James W. (Nicole) Goult III of Hastings and Anthony D. (Caralie Pallone) Goult of Pennellville; his significant other, Katie Curinga of East Syracuse; his maternal grandmother, Mary Graveline of Camillus; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, February 25, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Falardeau Funeral Home, 93 Downer St., Baldwinsville. A funeral Mass will take place on Wednesday, February 26, at 11 a.m. in St. Mary’s Church, 47 Syracuse St., Baldwinsville, with burial to follow in Greenlawn Cemetery, Warners.
Reggie Rawls Jr. lived a life full of passion, laughter, and love. His absence leaves a void that cannot be filled, but his memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew him. Whether through the sound of a roaring engine, the sight of a runner on a trail, or the warmth of a family gathered around a smoker, Reggie’s spirit will continue to inspire. Rest in peace, Reggie. You will be deeply missed, but never forgotten. 💙
